East Point, Souris, PE
Just 12 miles east of the picture postcard seaside town of Souris, this beautifully built mansion is one of the island's most luxurious PEI rentals, called the Arrowhead! A gorgeous private and secluded place to enjoy wildlife and nature at its best.
A gravel driveway covering Prince Edward Island's rich red earth meanders through a grove of evergreens to a spectacular executive beach house, set in --- acres of trees and emerald fields. The view rolls down to South Lake, across endless dunes, miles of golden beach called the singing sands, on to where land, sea and sky come together for a breathtaking vision.
Now imagine the sheer beauty in the moonlight: translucent light streams from the white orb. Across the ocean it is broken by the dark bank of dunes, picks up momentum across the still lake and washes up the fields to the doorstep of Arrowhead Beach House.
The open concept area of the main floor is covered in green slate flooring, complemented by the oak trim and accessories. The living area contains its own piece of history in the stone surrounding the fireplace, which was salvaged from an old foundation. It is said the stone was carved by the Micmacs (Mi'kmaqs) who inhabited the island before the French arrived. The property was named Arrowhead because of the aboriginal arrowhead that was found in the area where the beach house now stands. Other arrowheads have been found in the area so be sure to keep your eyes peeled when beach combing….
Three of the bedrooms are named after birds that inhabit the area. The Osprey, on the main floor has a king bed and sitting area with powder room leading into a 5 piece bathroom including a soaking claw tub with shower. Second bedroom on the main floor has a double and single bed with sitting area.
The open concept of the main floor has the living room blending into the dining area to the fully equipped kitchen then out onto the large deck with lap pool and hot tub.
A curved staircase, made from a combination of an African wood, bubinga, and mahogany extends from the upper floor to the bottom floor. The British Columbia redwood beams in the upstairs cathedral ceilings provide a rich backdrop for the games room that showcases a 185-year-old W.D. Emerson Baby Grand piano and a pool table for those rainy days. The two suites on the upper level are The Bald Eagle and The Northern Harrier.
The adjacent sitting area is furnished with comfortable, green leather couches and customized wood cabinets and side table. Patio doors lead out from the sitting area to a deck that expands your incomparable views of South Lake, white sandy dunes, Northumberland Strait on to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
The Bald Eagle is the piece de resistance with its zero-clearance see-through fireplace between the bedroom with king bed, sitting area and the en suite 5 piece bathroom. When you enter the bathroom look on the floor for the shape of an arrowhead carved into marble tile floor. Now imagine the lights dimmed, moon light over the dunes as you soak in the claw tub with a fire glowing… memories are made at the Arrowhead Beach House.
The Northern Harrier bedroom also features a king bed made from wild cherry by a local woodworker. This large bedroom offers a 3 piece ensuite.
As you make your way to the bottom level on the winding staircase you will find another sitting area with TV, 3 bedrooms, ½ bathroom, large room shower with 2 showerheads and sauna. The bedrooms offer a king, queen and three-quarter bed.
The water view is magnificent. The access to the shore is accessable although challenging. However, there is not much shore line once you access. Down the road 5 minutes is where you'll find a beautiful sandy beach with sand dunes for as far as the eye can see! As the day winds down and the sun sets come back to the house and sit around the fire pit and talk about your magnificent day on Prince Edward Island …. about 10:00PM as you gaze over the sand dunes you'll see the Magdalen Island Ferry crossing between the dunes and starry sky background.... Where memories are made!!!
We invite you to come and enjoy this magnificent home to be mesmerized with a million dollar view!!!

There are over 50 beaches just in eastern PEI and Basin Head otherwise known as the “singing sands” is the best of the best. It is considered #1 beach in Canada and #2 in North America. You can enjoy miles of beach with white sand and dunes. Be sure to scuff your feet as you walk and hear the sand sing before you jump off the bridge and be swept out with the tides. There are other beaches to enjoy in the area.
Heading east you will find the end of Prince Edward Island, East Point. The east point Lighthouse stands tall protecting the fishermen and women from landing on the shoals. This is a place you need to visit especially on a windy day. The waters of the Gulf of St Lawrence and Northumberland meet to create action in the water, where the seals love to play. The lighthouse offers daily tours, gift shop and small restaurant.
Keep on the 13A east and then west you will arrive at North Lake Harbour the Tuna Capital of the World. There are many deep-sea fishing tours offered, beautiful beach to swim or simply walk along the shores or wait for a giant Blue Fin Tuna to be brought to the wharf.
The Elmira Train Station museum is a 5 minute drive from the harbour. A miniature train is available for the children to take a ride through the woods. Inside the museum you will learn all about the trains that operated across Prince Edward Island. The tracks have all been removed across PEI and the Confederation Trail was created. At the Elmira museum was considered the end of the line where the trains use to be turned and sent back across the island.
