Charming! This oceanfront cottage in Prince Edward Island, Canada is available for your vacation rentals. Launching-by-the-Sea is a two level seaside cottage that sleeps six. The cottage offers over 1500 square feet of living space and an additional 1000 square feet of surrounding deck. It is uniquely situated at the beginning of a sand spit, which juts out and partially separates the ocean from McPherson's Cove.
You will enjoy breathtaking views of the ocean from the open concept designed of the main floor kitchen, living and dining area. The propane fireplace is an inviting feature for the spring and fall rentals. The first floor also provides one bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom. The second floor has two bedrooms; master with a king bed and ocean view deck and a second bedroom with a queen. Between the bedrooms is another bathroom and a sitting area with deck for you to enjoy the magnificent views. The crowning of the beach house … a spiral staircase leads you to atop level lookout with 360° lighthouse views!
Enjoy your morning coffee or a cool drink on any of the open upstairs decks or covered bottom deck, while gazing at the water after a day of exploring our unique Island or relax and catch some rays with your favourite book. Often times you might see seals basking in the sun on sandbars in the cove or a Bald Eagle soaring overhead. The area is also home to a wide variety of other water fowl including Great Blue Herons, Canada Geese, Cormorants, Sandpipers and many of the other 333 species of birds that are home to Prince Edward Island. You can take this all in from the comfort of the comfortable deck furniture.
Cooking at Launching-by-the-Sea will be a treat with its beautiful kitchen. It includes stainless steel appliances, plenty of counter space with a center island, and all the gadgets and cookware needed to make fabulous island meals (especially when accompanied by a nice island wine and the glorious views). Another cooking option is the propane BBQ on the covered porch. The island offers lots of fresh seafood, beef, pork, fruit, vegetables and much more that will make your island cuisine perfect! Of course we can't forget to mention the beach right down the short path in front of the cottage! It is great for swimming, walking, gathering sand dollars, digging for a feed of clams, picking up oysters, mussels, or finding that rare piece of sea glass. It is also a great spot to launch our kayaks for a tour of MacPherson Cove and Boughton River. Picturesque Annandale Harbour with its fishing boats and lighthouse is situated at the end of the sand spit island across the channel. All this plus the majestic Bald Eagles soaring overhead and the Blue Herons standing at waters edge. In the evening experience a bon fire on the beach where you will find lots of drift wood. The night sky can be breathtaking and should you be so lucky to experience the northern lights you'll be mesmorized....

Launching by the sea is the cottage to select for your PEI vacation if you a seafood lover. A five minute drive brings you to Launching Harbour where you can buy fresh lobsters off the boats in May and June, or kayak over to Annandale Harbour to buy your lobsters there (bring a bucket to carry your dinner home, they are a little feisty!).
There are lots of sandy shores to take a break from paddling and enjoy a picnic lunch. From the house, the sand spit beach stretches northward toward Annandale Harbour, the cove beach follows Boughton River to the west, and in the southerly direction is yet another beach called Honey Bee, which eventually leads all the way to Launching Harbor. Down a bit further and you will find Boughton Island, a designated wild life sanctuary, which also offers lots of beach for walking, swimming or clam digging. The outdoor shower is another favourite when you return from the beach.
Launching-by-the-Sea beach house is centrally located for your Eastern PEI vacation. In the eastern region of PEI we have a scenic coastal drive that is called Points East Coastal Drive be sure to take the tour.
The town of Cardigan is approximately 15 minutes away with restaurants, a couple of convenience stores, gas stations, liquor store, marina, boat building museum, farmers market, tourist information center, and the smallest public library in Canada! The towns of Georgetown, Montague, and Souris are within 30 minutes away with more amenities; grocery stores, artisan shops, live theatre, craft shops, bakeries, and more restaurants to enjoy. There are three Provincial Golf Courses; Crowbush, Dundarave, and Brudenell within a 35 minute drive.
