Newport Lane Beach House overlooks the ever-changing canvas of Cardigan Bay and Newport Harbour in eastern Prince Edward Island, along the picturesque Points East scenic drive. This two-storey seaside cottage offers all the comforts of home with its open concept living room, dining room and kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. New Port Lane Cottage is 15 minutes from the community of Cardigan and 20 minutes from the town of Montague.
Swim in the sheltered waters in front of the beach house, walk the beach for island treasures or just relax in the sun by accessing the water by-way of our aluminum stairs to the shore. The sunrises and sunsets are exceptional from the cottage deck or down at the shore. During May and June you will see the lobster boat set sail to land their catch of the day. Be sure to go down to the wharf that you see from the cottage and buy some fresh lobster.
Within a short car ride, you will find everything from local five-star restaurants including, Cardigan's (Clam Diggers) and Georgetown's (Wheelhouse) both serving Island seafood cuisine. Sea adventures sets sails daily from Georgetown and Montague Harbours offering many experiential adventures from giant bar clam digging, starfish hunting, and deep-sea fishing. If cycling or strolling is on your list, then our well-groomed Confederation Trail has miles of beautiful landscape to explore. Be sure to also visit our uniquely PEI, artisans' shops in the eastern area.
The eastern area of the island offers over 50 beaches for you to explore. The most famous is our Basin Head Provincial Beach better known as the “Singing Sands” beach, in 2013 it was awarded as Canada's #1 beach and #2 in North America. Due to the high concentration of silica content in the sand when heated by the sun and rubbed together it produces a high-pitched squeaking sound. If you dragging your feet through the sand you'll make it sing! It is approximately 40 minutes east from the cottage and another great beach is Panmure Island Provincial Beach and Lighthouse also 40 minutes from the cottage going south. The cottage is also close to other beaches in the area, such as Launching Harbour and Honey Bea Lane offering white sandy beaches and great swimming. Or perhaps you are a golfer, book a tee-off time at three of our world-class golf course- Brudenell, dundarave or Crowbush golf courses).
There is lots to see and do in the eastern region of Prince Edward Island, along the Points East Coastal Drive and it is all short day trips from the Newport Lane Cottage.

New Port Lane Cottage is on the Points East Coastal Drive in the Launching area, which is a designated, a scenic drive around the eastern region of Prince Edward Island. Whether you head into the towns of Georgetown, Montague or Souris the views will captivate you. This eastern area of PEI is known for its lighthouses, hills and harbours and more than fifty beaches. The number one beach being Basin Head Beach also known as the “Singing Sands”, which is just past Souris. In your surrounding areas there is a lot to see and do such as the many festivals and events depending on when you take your PEI summer vacation. All summer long on Prince Edward Island there are Ceilidh’s, which is the Gaelic word for kitchen parties. If you are a golfer, Brudenell and Dundarave Golf Courses are only 20 minutes from the cottage rental and the Links at Crowbush Cove is 45 minutes. There are many picturesque harbours throughout Prince Edward Island and the most famous being North Lake Harbour located at the eastern tip of PEI. It is also known as the “Tuna Capital of the World and worth the 45 minute drive to either go Deep-Sea fishing or see them bring in the large blue fin tunas. The Confederation Trail where you can bike or hike into the many communities is also a great way to see PEI. The capital of Prince Edward Island is Charlottetown and it is an hour from the New Port Lane Cottage rental. To see the renowned Anne of Green Gables musical plays throughout most summers and a must see activity. Spend a day going through the Historical city and before the show try one of our many restaurants serving island cuisine.
