As you look out into the ocean to the east is Boughton Island, which is a natural habitat for island wildlife. The island is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches and great for swimming, bird watching and digging clams. It used to be settled with a few farms and the only way on and off was at low tide or boats. Over the years the sand from the sandbars surrounding the Boughton Island has shifted in the narrows to make it more accessible at low tide. You still have to watch the tides as some water will go across the narrows. Take the kayaks over or drive to Bruce Point Road 5 minutes away and drive down to the island.
